Fraco works as a motocontrol (a motorcycle taxi driver common in the DR) in the Puerto Plata area. He lives in Muñoz with a daughter and wife. He knows a bit of a few languages and loves to joke around.

My name is Altagracia. I am 27 years old. I like to work. The most important thing in my life are my children and my family. In the future, I would like to be a Stylist.

Assignment 3 was this group’s last chance to shoot for their vision. Many of them were unable to attend ckass, but my first group of students had been in attendance continually through most of the second group’s classes. I decided to give them cameras for one last chance, to see what they could do. I really appreciate their dedication to the program and am continually inspired by their work. So Samantha stayed on and the rest will have to work with what they have shot already for their final stories because I believe that hard work should be rewarded.

It’s been an interesting transition from Group 1 to 2. Very different dynamics in personality and in people’s lives in general. Many of my students are working regularly and have a bit of different lifestyle than those in Group 1. This adds to a different energy in their photographs and in the classroom as well. They have picked up the photographic elements very naturally and are pushing through in their short time, but they do not show the passion that group 1 had in the classroom. But they give good results.

Look for the Light. If you practice this rule in your photography, I can guarantee your work will be better. I’d bet $5 on it. Knowing good light and shooting for it is what will take your work to the next step. It is how you view the world. Do you see objects, colors, shapes or light first? They all make up photography, but I have spent many years training myself to see the light first and it the backbone of my photography. I pass this lesson on to all of my students first. Without the light, there would be no photo.

Group 2 started early last week and they hit the ground running, with just 2 weeks before the show. I suspect the 1st group is sharing some info, because some of their composition was fantastic from the get go. Due to his outstanding work, I chose Elias to stay on as my assistant and to continue shooting. I am also rotating one camera to Group 1 photogs to build more work. So here they are and stay keep watch for their assignments.
We’re prepping now for Vida Verdad, an exposition of all 10 Be1 Vision photographers work, showing at Project Esperanza in Puerto Plata on December 10th and in the batey location on December 13th. So if you’re in the area, make sure to stop in and contact me if you have any questions.
